Stitching Kitchen is very much a lifestyle business for me, Hannah Thompson. After years working in science and then scientific recruitment; I found myself at a cross road. I had somehow got though a tough time with my mental health and a difficult divorce, I thought things were settled but then after feel disillusioned with the world of recruitment I felt it was time to take the plunge and do something more creative.
I was stitching almost everyday as I found it helped my mental health to be creative. "Maybe I could make some money from that?" That thought came two years ago now in the summer of 2017 and, although Stitching Kitchen has become somewhat different to the original plan, it is great fun and helps support me and my family.
Stitching Kitchen is based in Brackley, Northamptonshire in the kitchen of my home. I run workshops in my creative space and have all manner of fabrics, threads, machines and notions to help me and my guests have fun with all things textiles. I lead most of the workshops myself but also invite in expert tutors to run workshops which are different to mine.
I also take some workshops out on the road: you can invite me to your own home, social group or village hall to share the crafting buzz with your friends. Very occasionally I can be found at craft fairs too!
