Morsbags – doing our bit for the planet

sea creatures v plastics

During my trip to London to the Spring Knit and Stitch show at Olympia I saw a group of people making and promoting Morsbags. These bags are made from fabric which would end up in landfill. The idea is that sewing communities come together to create the bags and give them out – a friendly act of giving which helps the environment.

There is no charge made for a Morsbag, they are just given to those who need one, and who doesn’t need a bag?  You can find out a whole lot more about Morsbags at the website www.morsbags.com

Save our ocean creatures from unwanted plastic

With the help of my wonderful daughter we have created a Morsbag Pod here in Brackley at Stitching Kitchen. This means that the Stitching Kitchen makers can add to the global total of Morsbags created and gifted. Our total currently stands at 7!

Fabric, Scissors, Machine, Label = morsbag
This is how we do it… Fabric + Scissors + Machine + Label = morsbag

Join us on Saturday 20th July 2019 to come and add to the total of Morsbags created by the Stitching Kitchen Pod. Just turn up – with or without your sewing machine. We will have a mini production line creating the bags from discarded fabric which would otherwise end up in landfill. If you have any old curtains, sturdy sheeting or other fabric which might be suitable do bring it along too.
The session will run from 1pm to 5pm just pop in for a while or stay all afternoon it is up to you.
