Join Hannah to create your own beautiful bird appliqué in this relaxed and creative free motion workshop.

You will learn how to build your design using simple fabric collage techniques, making it easy to create the shape and structure of your bird with confidence.

Hannah will then guide you through free motion stitching methods that add texture, depth and movement, bringing your blue tit to life with expressive stitched marks. In this project we will use water soluble stabiliser to guide your stitches. Hannah will share plenty of helpful hints and tips to build your skills and confidence at the machine.

What you will learn/achieve

  • How to build your bird design using preloved and vintage fabrics
  • How to set up your sewing machine for free motion stitching and get to grips with using the machine as a drawing tool
  • Add texture and depth to your design with free motion stitch.
  • How to use water soluble fabric to aid your stitching.
  • A finished fabric panel with a blue tit design which can then be used in other textile art or as an addition to a garment, bag or home furnishing
