Ramie Linen

Ramie is a linen-like fabric made from a nettle plant called China grass. Ramie requires little water/pesticides to grow but does require some chemicals to “de-gum” the fibres. 

Ramie has many of the same properties as linen, such as high breathability, moisture absorbency, resistance to heat and washing, quick drying, and mildew resistance. Like linen, it does soften with repeated washings and does easily wrinkle.

As with most fabrics we would highly recommend rewashing prior to cutting out your project, that way any shrinkage will have happened before you construct your project.  With Darker colours it is also worth washing dark colours together incase of any dye loss. 

At Stitching Kitchen we sell fabric by the half meter.  We supply your order as one continuous length.  Therefore you need to add 2 to the cart for 1 meter of fabric and if you would like 3 meters add 6 to the cart.  Do get in touch if you have any questions
