Sew a Jacket over Two Saturdays - Sonny or Manon

Jacket Workshop - choose from Sonny or Manon Jackets by Tilly and the Buttons

Level: Confident beginner and above

Duration: 2 days 10am to 4pm

Come along to Stitching Kitchen and have fun with fabric and thread while creating your own super versatile Jacket in this two day workshop!

You can choose from either the New Manon Jacket which can be made either as a classic trench or cosy jacket, the convertible collar worn open or buttoned up at the neck.  It has optional slash welt pockets, storm flap and shield, pointed epaulettes and sleeve straps 

Or Sonny an easy-fit jacket comes in two lengths and two collar options, allowing you to personalize your design. Whether you choose reclaimed denim or fresh new fabric, your finished jacket will be stylish and unique.

A copy of the pattern (RRP £19.50) is included in your ticket.

What you will learn/achieve:

• Taking accurate measurements, choosing suitable size and style
• Making pattern adjustments, cutting fabrics, applying interfacing
  
• Assembling the main jacket, mock flat-felled seams, pocket details
  
• Tackling the collar, final construction, and finishing touches

While this is our planned structure, we can adapt to suit each student. Some sewing at home may be required.

What to bring:

• Fabric and notions - see the picture of the back of the pattern envelope for more info. 
• Remember we offer 10% discount on all items of fabric and haberdashery to workshop participants
• If up-cycling denim for the Sonny, you’ll need approx. three pairs of jeans (ideally with minimal stretch)
• Lunch for each day.

Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.   

About your tutor:

Lyn is one of our amazing dressmaking tutors. She has been sewing since the age of 10, taught by her mum and grandmothers who worked in the sewing industry. She loves sewing, predominantly garments for herself to add to her brightly coloured wardrobe! She ran an image training company for 11 years, so she knows a thing or two about what suits your body shape, colouring and style preferences.
