If you're new to sewing or just want some tuition to improve your techniques or learn to read and follow a pattern this is the sewing workshop for you! This Workshop Course runs over two evenings from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.
During the workshop we will make a pair of ‘Jaimie’ pyjama bottoms or shorts using the Tilly and the buttons pattern worth £18.50 (included in the workshop cost). Let us know if you would prefer to make the male version ‘Joe’. We will teach you how to choose the right size for you, how to prepare the fabric and pattern to be set up for success.
What you will achieve
- Laying and cutting out your fabric and pattern
- Sewing the garment and learn about different seam finishes
- Finish the course with a completed pair of PJ bottoms
What's included
Tuition: full instruction and support in a small class
A copy of the Pattern in hard copy - a printed PDF of Joe, if you choose the male version
Use of our Janome or PFAFF machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.
Tea and cake.
About your tutor
Lauren is an experienced seamstress with experience working in fitting bridal gowns. She is a firm believer in slow fashion and loves to create her own clothes - if it's an up-cycle project so much the better!
What to Bring
You will need 2.5m of lightweight cotton fabric, matching thread and waistband elastic. We have kits available and a choice of fabrics.
We have demonstration sewing machines you can use but if you would prefer to use your own machine feel free to bring it with you.
If you could arrive 10 minutes before each session to ensure a smooth start!
Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.
